HOHENFELS, Germany- Carolers, bonfire fires and hot coco set the scene for welcoming the Hohenfels community members to the annual tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 6, 2019.
“Although our ceremony has evolved over the years the purpose of this great event remains the same- its’ Hohenfels friends and families gathering together to celebrate the start of the holiday season and to share the message of love and peace” said Patrick Rothbauer, Deputy Garrison manager USAG Bavaria-Hohenfels.
In addition to the Hohenfels Middle-High Schools band and chorus performances and lighting the tree, a three-day holiday bazaar with different clubs from around the community sold items with the goal of giving back to the community.
“The spouses club has got the bizarre going they donate about 20,000 dollars a year or a little more than that to the community (that’s you) and that’s them giving back to the community, so we appreciate them setting that up.” said Col. Joseph Hilbert, Operations Group commander.
Both Rothbauer and Hilbert thanked all the teams from Garrison Bavaria from DES to the fire department and DPW getting the tree and everything working.
“I want to wish you all a very happy holidays,” concluded Hilbert.
