FORT CARSON, Colorado - Green Berets assigned to 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), lent their expertise during a combat marksmanship range where they mentored Soldiers from 4th Battalion (BN), 4th Security Force Assistance Brigade (SFAB), 4th Infantry Division (ID), November 18 – 21.
Security Force Assistance Brigades (SFAB) are specialized units with the core mission to conduct training, advising, assisting, enabling and accompanying operations with allied and partner nations.
“Despite the weather being miserable, there’s no other place I’d rather be,” said Staff Sgt. Alex Carter, a field artillery advisor, assigned to 4th Battalion, 4th Security Force Assistance Brigade, 4th ID. “It’s an honor to be trained by Green Berets. I hope we get a chance to do it again.”
The weapons training focused on simulated combat, consisting of complex joint fires and small arms transition exercises where Soldiers learned to fluidly switch from rifle to pistol.
“The training we conducted will lead to more confidence in their capabilities and the capacity to train others,” said a Green Beret warrant officer from 10th Group.
In preparation for future missions, Soldiers from the SFAB team expressed satisfaction with the training.
“The team and I feel this is the best possible training we could receive and feel more confident in our abilities,” said Sgt.1st Class, Christopher Nava, the noncommissioned officer in charge of the SFAB team. “I’m thankful for their knowledge and expertise; we enjoyed their insight on all the training.”
The weeklong training provided for interoperability between the two units, further enhancing the SFAB’s capabilities during their upcoming mission.
