JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, WA - An America's First Corps Inspector General Soldier, was recognized as the I Corps Assistant Inspector General Noncommissioned Officer of the Year, during the 2019 I Corps Inspector General competition here at Joint Base Lewis-McChord on 20 November.
Sergeant First Class Gotschall, an assistant inspector general assigned to
America's First Corps Inspector General office, was selected as the winner
over five major support commands, to include I Corps, 593rd ESC, 7th ID, USARAK, and 25th ID for the award. Gotschall, a Military Police Soldier
before assuming his role as an IG in 2018, was dedicated to enhancing the Armies war fighting capabilities by being locally nominated by the 42d MP BDE to further in his career. He is known in the Joint Base Lewis-McChord community for his character and leaving a lasting impression on his subordinates, peers, and leadership wherever he serve's.
"It was an honor and privilege to compete. Living a life, and a career
deliberately, will always yield fulfillment for one individual's lot. Always
strive to be an outlier, never stop bettering yourself," said SFC Gotschall.
The three finalists took part in a two-day competition, which included an
essay, an exam, the Army Physical Fitness Test, and a board to test each
competitor's military bearing and knowledge of the Inspector General system.
Sergeant First Class Gotschall will move forward to compete in the FY 2020 Department of the Army Inspector General of the Year competition during the World Wide Inspector General conference. This will take place covering a week long competition at Fort Belvoir, VA.
