LAFAYETTE, La. — Two members of the Louisiana National Guard were presented with the Distinguished Citizen Award by Lafayette city officials at a city council meeting at the Consolidated Government Building in Lafayette, La., June 23.
Command Sgt. Maj. Tommy Caillier, senior enlisted advisor for the LANG, and Chief Master Sgt. David W. Glaude, a quality assurance supervisor for the 159th Fighter Wing, were presented with this prestigious award by council Chairman Purvis Morrison and District Four Councilman Kenneth P. Boudreaux.
"This is a great day for the city of Lafayette," said Morrison. "These two gentlemen have risen through the enlisted ranks and have become great leaders within the Louisiana National Guard. Lafayette is very proud."
Caillier, who worked as a Lafayette police officer before becoming a full time Guardsman, became the second member of his family to receive this honor.
"It gives me great pleasure to be preceded by my father in receiving this award," said Caillier. "It was his guidance and the encouragement from family and friends that got me where I am today."
Glaude spent many years as a Lafayette fireman before leaving his post to serve as a full-time Guardsman for the 159th.
"I would like to thank everyone for the support you have shown me," said Glaude. "Lafayette is my home and love, and I am humbled to be recognized by my city."
