MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (NNS) – Naval Supply System Command’s (NAVSUP) best story of 2019 is "Naval Supply Turns Up Heat on Critical Weapon-System Orders."
Matthew Jones of NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (WSS) Public Affairs authored the winning article about NAVSUP WSS’s efforts to reduce high-priority backorders to bolster fleet readiness. The article was chosen by office of corporate communication / public affairs staffs at NAVSUP Enterprise commands around the globe. The articles were judged on how well they (1) engaged readers, (2) demonstrated NAVSUP being ready, resourceful, and responsive, and (3) showcased NAVSUP’s positive work environment.
Many nominated articles focused on fleet support and readiness, including “NAVSUP WSS Hosts First Maritime Sustainment Summit with Eye on Readiness” by Kelly Luster, NAVSUP WSS; “HAZMAT Training Enables Force Multiplication in Europe for NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Sigonella” by Joe Yanik, NAVSUP FLC Sigonella; “Maiden Deployment of USS Detroit Brings a New Supporting Role to NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville” by Jessica McClanahan, NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville; “NAVSUP FLC Norfolk Supports Movement of Ships, Aircraft to Avoid Dorian” by Tom Kreidel, NAVSUP FLC Norfolk; “NAVSUP Strengthens Supplier Relationships for Greater Navy Readiness” by Benjamin Benson, NAVSUP Headquarters; and “Yokosuka Logistics Team Played Key Support Role During Talisman Saber 19 Exercise” by Tina Stillions, NAVSUP FLC Yokosuka.
