VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Interior Communications 1st Class Petty Officer Kirsten Gilbert recently reenlisted for an additional six years at the NAS Oceana Dam Neck Annex.
Lt. Michael Igoe, Training Support Center Hampton Roads (TSCHR), Facilities, was the ceremonial reenlisting officer. Gilbert’s friends and colleagues packed the conference room in support of her dedication to the U.S. Navy.
Last March, Gilbert was automatically promoted through the Navy’s Meritorious Advancement Program (MAP). In support of Sailor 2025, the MAP is intended to empower commanding officers to identify and advance the most talented, experienced and proficient Sailors within their command based on first-hand demonstrated performance and ability.
When not working for TSCHR Facilities, Gilbert is close to finishing her Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management, Excelsior College. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Garnett Gilbert.
“The Navy has provided me with so many opportunities and achievements. I hope to continue being successful while serving my country,” said Gilbert.
