FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pa. – Soldiers from the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 55th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, were given the chance to throw live M67 hand grenades on August 5, 2019. Soldiers were provided preliminary marksmanship instruction, or PMI, to prepare or refresh their training on hand grenade deployment in a class the night before and before the range was opened. During the morning, each Soldier was tested using ten dummy grenades to verify their knowledge of proper procedures for verifying their target, removing the safeties, taking cover, and more. The six best Soldiers were then chosen to throw a live grenade from the grenade pit.
The preparation of the 55th MEB leadership and noncommissioned trainers, provided a safe and exciting training experience for the Soldiers involved.
