    1st Marine Logistics Group

MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. — Col. Bruce E. Nickle assumed command of Combat Logistics Regiment 17, 1st Marine Logistics Group, from Col. John J. Broadmeadow during a change of command ceremony held at the 11 Area parade field at Camp Pendleton, Calif., June 30.

Nickle, 44, from Vienna, Va., relieved Broadmeadow, 47, from Pawtucket, R.I., who was selected for brigadier general in April. Broadmeadow will continue his service as the deputy commandant general, Marine Forces Pacific, Camp Smith, Hawaii.

Prior to assuming command of CLR-17, Nickle served as the ground equipment reset officer, Installations and Logistics Department, Headquarters Marine Corps.

The change of command ceremony included the passing of the colors, incoming and outgoing remarks from the commanding officers and a performance by the 1st Marine Division band.

During the ceremony, Broadmeadow spoke about his enjoyment of leading the Marines and sailors of CLR-17. He added that Nickle was a great replacement for him.

Broadmeadow stated that the Marine Corps' command selection process was right-on when it chose Nickle as the commanding officer for CLR-17. "The Marines are going to realize they have a first class commanding officer," Broadmeadow said.

Nickle expressed his excitement to be working closely with young Marines and Sailors.

"Col. Broadmeadow left me a great unit, and I hope to carry on the unit's legacy," Nickle said. "I have the opportunity to lead Marines in combat, and that's what the Marine Corps is all about."
