VICKSBURG, Miss – Command Sgt. Major Benny Hubbard assumed the role of the 412th Theater Engineer Command’s senior enlisted advisor during a change of responsibility ceremony held at the Vicksburg National Military Park in Vicksburg, Mississippi, January 12.
The position was previously held by Command Sgt. Major Dennis Law, who recruited Hubbard for the job. Law said the 412th TEC will be in good hands.
“This command was at the bottom of the list of 18 commands when I got here,” Law said. “Now, we’re number two. I know CSM Hubbard will do great things.”
Hubbard called upon his corps of noncommissioned officers to carry the 412th TEC into the future.
“We’re going to take this TEC one step higher than what CSM Law left it,” Hubbard said. “There’s a reason they call the NCO corps the ‘backbone of the Army.’ You not only mentor the enlisted and the officers, but you execute.”
“That’s what we’re going to do,” Hubbard added. “We’re going to execute.”
Maj. Gen. Stephen Strand, 412th TEC commanding general, challenged Hubbard and all members of the TEC to maintain a high level of readiness and proficiency.
“The 412th’s success relies on readiness and training, right down to the platoon level,” Strand said. “CSM Hubbard, you’ve got some big shoes to fill.”
Hubbard is the former command sergeant major of the 926th Engineer Brigade, Montgomery, Alabama. He is a native of Vicksburg, Mississippi, received a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Southern Mississippi, and previously deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
