ON WHY HE JOINED THE ARMY AND TRAINED TO BE A CYBER OPERATIONS SPECIALIST:
“I joined the Army to serve my country, to challenge myself, and because my family has a history of military service. I chose the 17C Cyber Operations military specialty because I believed that it would be the greatest challenge for me – physically and mentally – and so far that assessment has been pretty accurate.”
ON WHY HE CHOSE TO TAKE ON THE CHALLENGE OF THE BEST WARRIOR COMPETITION:
“I competed because I wanted to be able to represent my unit and challenge myself as much as possible, physically and mentally.”
ON WHAT HE LEARNED FROM THE BEST WARRIOR COMPETITION:
“I learned to stay hydrated, motivated, and always have a plan and a backup in whatever situation you go in.”
ON HIS FUTURE GOALS:
“In the short term I want to get recommended for the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club, lower my 12-mile ruck time to two hours and 20 minutes, and max the ACFT (Army Combat Fitness Test). In the long term I want to get a bachelor of science degree in cybersecurity and psychology, go to the staff sergeant board as soon as I am able to, and make a greenhouse that is self-regulated via something like a raspberry pi.” (NOTE: a raspberry pi is a small single-board computer, and the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club is an organization for selected NCOs who demonstrate performance and leadership qualities in the spirit of renowned World War II Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Audie L. Murphy.)
