The inaugural 58th Special Operations Wing Innovation Fund Pitch Day took place on Kirtland Air Force Base, Jan. 17, 2020.
The event allowed team members to present ideas to leadership for improving processes, equipment and technology that would allow them to fund improvements in their workplace.
“Events like this serve to find those ideas from our Airmen that can improve their ability to accomplish the mission and ultimately better the Air Force,” said Maj. Benjamin D. Smith, 58th SOW director of innovation. “It also provides insight to leadership on what the struggles Airmen are facing so that they can better provide for their Airmen.”
At the presentation, innovations such as 3D printers, wireless headsets and various digital applications were presented as recommendations that would improve working conditions, maintenance quality and safety.
“It was fun getting the whole shop involved in the prep and presentation,” said Jennifer Hall, presenter and 58th Maintenance Group CV-22 aircraft maintenance supervisor. “Everyone can see what you are fighting for and how important things are to each area requesting the items.”
The next event is planned for the end of April of this year.
