KABUL, Afghanistan — An International Security Assistance Force soldier was killed as a result of an improvised explosive device attack from insurgents in southern Afghanistan, July 9.
"I offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of this ISAF solider, who died today in the line of duty so that Afghans can have a chance at a better life," said Brig. Gen. Eric Tremblay, ISAF spokesperson.
"While extremely hurt by this loss, I hope that his loved ones may find some solace in the knowledge that they do not grieve alone and that his comrades with ISAF will never forget this soldier's heroism and sacrifice."
It is ISAF policy not to release the nationality of any casualty prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
