HOHENFELS, Germany- Combined Resolve XIII promotes regional stability and security, while increasing readiness, strengthening partner capabilities and fostering trust. This combined training opportunity greatly improves interoperability among participating allies and partners.
Working in the training area has been a challenge for Sgt. 1st class John Esteen and his electronic ground warfare truck team.
“It’s been a little rough with all the terrain we have been working through,” said Esteen. “Learning how to use our equipment in vegetation while still concealing ourselves properly so we don’t give ourselves up has been great training.”
The electronic warfare community has been receiving new equipment over the past couple of years and this training has allowed Esteen’s team to get more familiar with it.
“We had this equipment earlier this year and were pretty effective with it at the National Training Center,” said Esteen. We then had six months without the equipment. So, coming out here and being able to use it and hone our skills is a valuable asset.”
Just getting their hands on the equipment is the most beneficial part of the training exercise for Esteen and his team.
“We can look at things and search for targets,” said Esteen. “We can give the commander real time battlefield analysis.”
After a week of intense training the electronic warfare team is ready to get out of the field.
“ It’s fun while it lasts but usually the last few days are the hardest,” said Esteen. “Everyone is ready to get back in and get some food and a shower.”
