Staff Sgt. Channel Bolton-Scholl, 5th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron was recently named one of the Air Force's 12 Outstanding Airmen.
Bolton-Scholl, a maintainer, deployed from McChord Air Force Base, Wash., constantly displays the job proficiency and professional conduct that brought her some of the Air Force's highest praise.
"She has amazingly infectious positive energy," said Capt. Lyndsey Ballinger, 5th EAMS Operating Location Bravo officer in charge. "She is a huge asset to our aircraft maintenance team. We are minimally manned, so to have someone who is capable of doing a variety of jobs is critical for us."
Bolton-Scholl, who is not one for fanfare, says she just loves her job and enjoys working with her fellow maintainers.
"I like to help people," she explained.
Bolton-Scholl saw breakdowns in trust and teamwork early in her career, so she takes an active stance in preventing those things from happening again.
"She displays all the characteristics of a dedicated maintenance troop and NCO," said Master Sgt. Sean Siegal, 5th EAMS Operating Location Bravo maintenance superintendent.
Siegal said even after receiving the award he was surprised because Bolton-Scholl "seemed so normal," which is a testament to her one-team attitude.
"All our maintainers are doing a great job for the 5th EAMS," he said. "I know Sgt. Bolton-Scholl, just like the rest of us, is proud to be here and ready to serve."
An Air Force selection board at the Air Force Personnel Center selected the 12 Outstanding Airmen based on superior leadership, job performance and personal achievements.
