FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pa. – Three soldiers with the with Lithuania’s National Defense Volunteer Forces (NDVF), visited here Feb. 3-7 to plan the annual platoon exchange between the two partner forces.
Maj. Arturas Seniut, 8th District chief of staff, Maj. Vytautas Vinickas, NVDF chief of planning subsection, and NVDF Command Sgt. Maj. Arunas Aliukonis received a challenge coin commemorating our nearly 27-year partnership with Lithuania from Brig. Gen. Mark Schindler, deputy adjutant general, Army.
“I’m looking forward to it because some soldiers from my unit are coming here and it will definitely be very beneficial to them throughout their careers,” said Seniut.
The three spent the week touring facilities and meeting the experts and instructors who will work with the Lithuanian platoon-sized element during the exchange in May.
During their 27-year partnership, Pennsylvania and Lithuania have conducted more than 500 military and training exchanges, in addition to numerous joint deployments to Afghanistan as part of joint police operational mentor liaison teams and provincial reconstruction teams.
