FORT CARSON, Colorado. –Soldiers with 32nd Composite Truck Company, 68th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 4th Sustainment Brigade, 4th Infantry Division returned home Sunday, January 12 from for a nine month deployment. Friends, family and colleagues welcomed the Soldiers home at a ceremony held in the William ‘Bill’ Reed Special Event Center, on Fort Carson.
The Soldiers deployed in April to Camp Buehring, Kuwait in support of Operation Spartan Shield for United States Central Command. Their mission was to provide supplies and equipment to numerous units that would help enable current operations to progress.
“Our Soldiers were moving tanks, Bradleys, ammunition, and a lot of other equipment,” said Capt. Jennifer Weaver, commander, 32nd CTC, 68th CSSB, 4th SB, 4th ID. “We drove a total of 450,000 miles, moved about 25 million short tons of equipment while completing over 420 missions.”
One of the primary missions was to locate and remove unused equipment from bases within the area of operations.
“My platoon would go to camps or locations that equipment laying around, we would sort it out and then ship it to other locations,” said Staff Sgt. Roger Lumibao, squad leader 32nd CTC, 68th CSSB, 4th SB, 4th ID. “By redistributing the equipment to other locations we were able to help units accomplish their missions.”
The soldiers are happy to be home and that they can now spend time with their families.
“I’m excited to see my kids,” said Staff Sgt. Fritz Alokoa, squad leader, 32nd CTC, 68th CSSB, 4th SB, 4th ID. “It’s going to be nice to relax for a little while and then maybe take a vacation to get away.”
This was the second deployment to Kuwait for the 32nd CTC since 2014, and they impressed their commander.
“We deployed with a lot of new people, and to see them grow together over the past nine months has been phenomenal,” Weaver said. “This team has been amazing and I’m going to miss them as my wife and I begin our transition to Japan for my new position with the United Nations.”
The rest of the ‘Trey Deuce’ Soldiers will keep a weathered eye on the horizon for any possible missions, but their focus now is to reintegrate with the rest of the 4th Infantry Division.
