Lt. Gen. Gene Kirkland, Air Force Sustainment Center commander, joined fifth graders from around Bibb County for a STARBASE ROBINS STEM event at the Museum of Aviation, February 10, 2020. STARBASE ROBINS offers a hands-on STEM curriculum to students from local school systems and is designed to pique students’ interest in STEM. STEM events encourage and celebrate studies in the science, technology, engineering and math realms – all areas that are vital to our nation’s protection and security.
STARBASE ROBINS at the Museum of Aviation is a premier Department of Defense educational program which responds to the needs of today’s youth through hands-on activities focusing on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) content areas. Personal development and career goal setting is also a strong emphasis of our program. Our vision is to raise the interest and improve the knowledge and skills of at-risk, disadvantaged and under-represented youth in STEM fields of study and to provide for a highly educated and skilled American workforce that could meet the advanced technological requirements of the Department of Defense and Georgia’s workforce. STARBASE ROBINS has been in existence since June of 1996. In that time over 26,000 students and over 800 classes have participated in STARBASE programs.
STARBASE ROBINS STEM programming to 5th grade students in Middle Georgia. STARBASE 2.0 serves 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.
