Panelists in the “Lost Voices of Mariel” Panel answered questions Feb. 13, 2020, at the Monroe County Local History Room in Sparta, Wis.
The panel recalls the 1980 Cuban Refugee Program at Fort McCoy, Wis.
In 1980, the Mariel Boatlift brought 14,000 people to the refugee compound at Fort McCoy.
An exhibit and this panel explored the lives of the Cuban refugees who began their journey in the United States and how the event impacted Monroe County.
