Fire Controlman Seaman Ashley Fessler recently graduated from Phalanx Close-In Weapon System MK 15 (CIWS), Center for Combat Systems Unit, NAS Oceana Dam Neck Annex.
The seven-month course uses a combination of classroom instruction, laboratory instruction, and laboratory practical application as part of the building block approach to learning.
Fessler now has the in-depth knowledge of operation, preventive and corrective maintenance of CIWS MK 15.
She is originally from Portage, Indiana and has been in the Navy for 1.5 years.
