CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait - The Honorable Alina L. Romanowski, U.S. Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, visited Area Support Group – Kuwait headquarters at Camp Arifjan on Wednesday to learn about the organization’s role in maintaining the Defense Cooperation Agreement and the installation’s response to mitigate COVID-19.
Romanowski met with ASG-KU Commander, U.S. Army Col. Ryan Worthan, and ASG-KU Deputy to the Commander, David J. Docimo Jr., during her visit.
“We provided her an overview of the important mission of Area Support Group – Kuwait,” Docimo said. “I've had the opportunity to brief our Ambassador on several occasions since her appointment, but this was her first visit to the installation.”
Romanowski toured the base, meeting with tenant organizations including the 335th Signal Command (Theater) (Provisional), 401st Army Field Sustainment Command, 1st Theater Sustainment Command, Task Force Spartan and others.
“Her willingness to quickly take on some of our challenges is a clear indicator that we have an ally in the diplomatic mission here in Kuwait,” Docimo said. “I'm eager to continue working with the Ambassador on our shared vision.”
Romanowski assumed her position as Ambassador of the United States of America to the State of Kuwait on Feb. 11, 2020. She is a career member of the Senior Executive Service and previously served as the Department of State’s Principal Deputy Coordinator for Counterterrorism. Romanowski has served in U.S. government agencies for nearly 40 years.
