WIESBADEN, Germany - In response to COVID-19, U.S. Army Europe Customs Agency has coordinated with the German Federal Customs Directorate to authorize the automatic extension of German Forms 0217, aka Pink Cards, through June 30, 2021.
The action went into effect March 27, 2020, and amended Dec. 10.
This eliminates the need for retirees, many of whom may be considered high risk, to visit customs offices in person if their Pink Card was valid at least through March 1, 2020.
For those whose card expired prior to March 1, the cardholder must visit to their local USACA-E field office because the issuance of a status verification is required. However, German Customs offices may work by appointment only, allow cardholders to submit their receipts via mail, or ask them to provide them at a later date in order to maintain current hygiene protection requirements.
All cardholders should continue to monitor emerging guidance from their local German Customs Offices.
