April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, providing an opportunity for reflection of a response-focused foundation in support to service members who report sexual assault or harassment. "Sexual Assault is a horrendous crime that inflicts unimaginable pain on its victims and units, impacting mission readiness," said Regina Taylor, 416th Theater Engineer Command (TEC) Sexual Assault Response Coordinator.
The 416th TEC is committed to preventing sexual assault and raising awareness year-round. The month of April provides an opportunity to reinforce that commitment.
The theme "This is my squad!" is the foundation of the TEC's culture. Its premise of team cohesion, trust, and pride in the organization is essential in preventing sexual assault. "It is a very important part of our care of all people, our civilians, family members, and fellow citizens to have an obligation to treat everybody with dignity and respect. That's what it's all
about," said Maj. Gen. Miyako Schanely, 416th TEC Commander.
The 416th TEC leadership, in conjunction with the Sexual Harassment Assault Response and Prevention team are reminding all personnel to have the personal courage to say and do the right thing. "Together, we can work to further reduce, with the goal to eliminate, sexual assault everywhere we serve."
