FT. BRAGG, N.C.- North Carolina National Guardsmen from the 403rd Quartermaster Rigger Support Team, 60th Troop Command manufactured protective face masks for fellow NCNG Soldiers and Airmen on State Active Duty, April 14, 2020.

The 403rd QM Rigger Support Team consists of ten parachute riggers who have answered the call to action and transferred their unique set of skills to help protect guardsmen across the state.

“Their unique set of skills as maintainers of lifesaving equipment provide a unique capability for the state in a much needed force preservation effort,” said Chief Warrant Officer 3 Viviana Paredes, the commander of the 403rd QM Rigger Support Team.

Parachute riggers maintain the important capability of ensuring Soldier’s parachutes and equipment are carefully packed and prepared for safe airdrops.

Due to the development of COVID-19, the 403rd QM Rigger Support Team have utilized their sewing skills into developing protective face masks that are intended to be distributed through the State Safety Office to all Soldiers and Airmen on SAD.

“We are here to manufacture these cloth masks in an effort to preserve our ‘SAD combat power’ against the COVID-19, ensuring the NCNG maintains the highest state of readiness not only during the pandemic, but afterwards also,” Paredes said.

Their mission is critical to help fellow guardsmen to maintain proper health and safety protocols while working to help keep citizens safe.

“We are proud here at the NCNG and of course at the 403rd Quartermaster Rigger Support Team to be an active participant in this mission and to be able to protect the protectors,” Paredes said.
