    Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton

The challenges brought about by COVID-19 have affected all personnel aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. With increased protective measures of isolation and social distancing, family members and loved ones aim to support their Marines and Sailors during these uncertain times. The Unit Readiness Coordinators (URC) aboard the installation help provide this support by working with the Unit, Personal and Family Readiness Program and implementing the commander’s family readiness vision.

The Headquarters and Support Battalion’s Unit Readiness Coordinators Office’s mission is to keep loved ones and family members up to date on the latest information regarding the installation. The mission also extends to aid in maintaining constant family readiness within the various units across base. By adapting to the current circumstances, the members of the URC can continue to support those dear to the service members who work and live on base.

“By issuing newsletters, the URC can keep families as informed as possible throughout the COVID-19 situation,” said Sgt. Hayden Zielinski, a unit readiness coordinator with the Headquarters and Support Battalion’s Unit Readiness Coordinators Office.

Organizing unit events for service members and their loved ones have temporarily been halted to comply with the latest COVID-19 precautions. With these events on hold until further notice, the URC has found other ways to support COVID-19 related efforts, like helping to establish quarantine areas.

“We have been able to assist in COVID-19 related responses on base,” said Sgt. Zielinski. ”Through the use of URC funds, we have helped supply health and comfort packages to those undergoing quarantine.”

As the residents of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton continue to work through COVID-19, the The Headquarters and Support Battalion’s Unit Readiness Coordinators Office works to maintain the mission of the UPFRP.
