“My job is to ensure members of the 192nd Wing and 1st Fighter Wing train on all the areas in the Munitions Flight. We could be moved from shop-to-shop at any time, and when deployed, you don't know where you’re going to work. So, in the training, everyone gets to put their hands on everything we use in this career field. From bombs to missiles, assembly equipment, stacking trailers and loading. The goal is we’re all proficient in every aspect of our job.
As a full-time technician, I work with the 1st FW on a daily basis. I’m always training people even during the week. So, whether from the 1st or 192nd, to me, it doesn’t really make a difference. We all do the same job, we share equipment, we share buildings, trucks; there’s no real differentiation between the active duty and Guard. We move as one unit, so we all need to be equally qualified to do our job. We should be interchangeable anywhere.
I love this unit. I’ve been in since the ’90s and have no plans to go anywhere else -- and I love training people. Every day I can train someone, I make the Air Force better.”
