ELLINGTON FIELD JOINT RESERVE BASE, Texas. (May 29, 2020) The 147th Attack Wing Inspector General’s exercise and planning (XP) office continues focusing on the TMD’s mission of supporting Texas’ response to the COVID-19 pandemic May 29, 2020, at Ellington Field Joint Reserve Base, Texas.
The 147th ATKW XP office is responsible for coordinating with Joint Force Headquarters on a daily basis to ensure the TMD’s response to the COVID-19 mission is fully supported.
When a request comes from Joint Force Headquarters, the XP office will assist in filling the roles required to complete that request. The XP office reaches out to the 147th ATKW, groups, and squadrons for volunteers.
“The wing is very proud of our airmen who are assisting in the COVID-19 response, they answered the call when needed and we cannot thank them enough. We want to thank the leaders and supervisors who have been taking care of these members in the back ground to ensure they got everything they needed to be successful in the field.” says 1st Lt. Monique Anderson, the Director of Inspections, Exercises and Planning.
“It has been a collaborative effort with the XP/IG office, the Comptroller flight and FSS. Without these organizations we would not be able to accomplish this activation successfully.”
113 Texas Air National Guard airmen from the 147th ATKW have been placed on orders to help with the mission. These citizen- airmen are serving Texas by supporting mobile testing teams, food banks, and civil engineering assessment teams.
“I’m always amazed how our airmen are able and willing to adapt to whatever comes their way,” says Master Sgt. Joseph Callahan, the 147th ATKW Inspector General self-assessment program manager. “Our citizen airmen have not only adapted to but have excelled at this ever-evolving mission that has preserved the general welfare of our fellow Texans.”
As of May 20, 147th airmen have contributed to the overall distribution of 51.6 million pounds of food, and 41.4 million meals at food banks throughout Texas.
The TMD mobile testing sites has also contributed to 81, 817 COVID-19 tests in Texas.
