Malmstrom Air Force Base Airmen hosted several security forces-sponsored events to honor law enforcement officers during National Police Week, May 11-15.
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation designating May 15 as Peace Officer's Memorial Day. Every year on this day memorial ceremonies are hosted to honor officers who died in the line of duty. The week surrounding this day is known as National Police Week. The week boasts several events to recognize the LE community.
This week, the men and women of the 341st Security Forces Group honored those who made the ultimate sacrifice during their time in service. Due to social distancing precautions, events were limited.
“Police week will look different this year, but we have still found ways to commemorate this week,” said Master Sgt. William Blado, 341st Missile Security Operations Squadron tactical response force flight chief. “Typically, it is designed with an event every day to bring people together and memorialize [the fallen].
