KABUL, Afghanistan — Three International Security Assistance Force service members were killed in three separate hostile fire incidents in southern Afghanistan.
One ISAF service member died of wounds suffered in an incident that occurred on Aug. 8, another died on Aug. 9 and the third individual died Aug. 10.
"These brave servicemen did their best to improve the life conditions of ordinary Afghans. We owe them and their loved ones who grieve their loss our deepest gratitude," said Brig. Gen. Eric Tremblay, ISAF spokesperson.
"Our forces work hard alongside their Afghan security partners to extend security throughout the country to allow the local population to enjoy a normal life and take part in the forthcoming elections free from insurgent intimidation and violence."
A U.S. spokesperson Captain Elizabeth Mathias, has confirmed the service members were from the United States.
