The U.S. Army Support Activity, Fort Dix, held a change of command ceremony July 23.
The ceremony welcomed U.S. Army Col. Jon A. Brierton and bid farewell to U.S. Army Col. Charles W. Durr.
“It is a privilege to be a small part of this tradition as well as salute Col. Charles Durr a job well done and celebrate the arrival of an equally outstanding soldier, Col. Jon Brierton," said Brenda McCoullough, Installation Management Command Readiness director.
“Brierton is the perfect leader. I am fully confident that [he] will lead this garrison with the same professionalism, pride and expertise that [he has] demonstrated throughout his career.”
During the ceremony, Durr expressed his appreciation for the ASA staff.
“The Army Support Activity is second to none," Durr said. "[Col. Brierton], I hope you take time to enjoy the things that go on around here.”
Brierton is no stranger to the joint-base environment and has previously attended basic combat training at Fort Dix.
“I am truly excited about this opportunity to serve the greater New Jersey area," said Brierton. "I want you all to know that my command tenure isn't about me. It's about us, but most importantly it's about you. The time I spend assigned to ASA Dix will be dedicated to serving America's rugged professionals across the services."
Durr, who is retiring, received praise for his accomplishments while assigned to ASA Dix.
“Col. Charles Durr’s contributions will have a lasting impact on ASA Dix,” McCullough said. “Thank you for your leadership and support to the garrison team. You are heading to a new chapter of your life where new opportunities and exciting challenges are waiting.”
