LAFAYETTE, La. — After 20 years of success, the Louisiana National Guard Counter Drug Task Force continues to serve as a positive reinforcement for drug demand reduction coalitions as noted at an annual Counter Drug Conference held at the Hilton Lafayette Hotel, July 30.
Maj. Gen. Bennett C. Landreneau, LANG adjutant general; Lt. Col. Raymond C. Schindler, LANG CDTF coordinator; and various law enforcement agencies supported by the CDTF, were present to congratulate the members of the task force for their prestigious accomplishments.
"As I travel throughout the state, agencies express the great respect they have for the technical capabilities and dedication the Guard brings to their organizations," Landreneau explained. "It pleases me to hear about the many accomplishments and the hard work that the task force is doing across Louisiana."
Lt. Col. Raymond C. Schindler referred to the group as ambassadors of the National Guard. "Because of the job that you are doing, our citizens know that we are making an impact in helping their communities stay safe and fight the war on drugs," he stressed. "You truly embrace what our state mission is all about."
The LANG Counter Drug Task Force provides assistance to support local, state and federal law enforcement agencies throughout Louisiana by helping to reduce the demand for drugs through education programs, working with community action groups and serving as role models for at-risk youths.
"The Guard has played a significant role in the success of our program and because of you, we were able to accomplish a lot," said Tony Soto, a representative for the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area program.
"I can't emphasize enough how appreciative I am to have the support of the National Guard and to have them as a part of our team," Soto continued.
