U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Jacob Watt, a hospital corpsman and work center supervisor at the Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point (NHCCP) , was recognized by the Carteret County Chamber of Commerce's Military Affairs Committee and his leadership at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, as the Service Person of the Quarter Aug. 21, 2020.
Watt was born and raised in Buffalo, New York, and graduated from Pioneer Central High School in June 2013, and attended boot camp that following January. Upon his graduation from boot camp, Watt attended the Navy Medicine Training Support Center (NMTSC) at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston. Watt has deployed multiple times with the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing and is now fulfilling duties as a general duty corpsman.
On top of everything he has accomplished through the U.S. Navy, he was specifically recognized for his over 80 volunteer hours with Surface Interval Dive Company (SIDCO) as the Field Operations Officer. SIDCO is a 501c non-profit organization, dedicated to identifying and preserving historic shipwrecks and maritime artifacts found along the coast of North Carolina. Watt has successfully managed and led a team of eight members on four dive excursions.
Watt has proven himself to be a vital part of the surrounding community and the community we have on MCAS Cherry Point. He leads Sailors and civilians by example through his actions and exemplary work ethic, within his military occupation specialty and outside of it.
