HOHENFELS, Germany- U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to the 6th Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment have been hard at work during training exercise Combined Resolve XIV at the Hohenfels Training Area.
“The goal is to create lethal and cohesive teams while training” said Spc. David Kraman, a U.S. Army Soldier assigned to the Bushmaster platoon from the 6th Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment.
Kraman’s unit has been training throughout Europe for the last seven months participating in various exercises in several countries.
“The recent pandemic changed a lot of training for us but we figured out how to use it to work together better now that we are in more contained areas” said Kraman.
Soldiers have experienced various aspects of training such as combat maneuvering, battle positions, learning how to take cover from enemies and effective ways to defend their fellow soldiers when receiving fire. Soldiers at the Hohenfels Training Area have many outlets of learning new tactics and methods of fighting from the observer coach trainers to other units from other states or other countries and communicating to find more and more efficient methods of combat.
Spc.. Keagan Billiot, who serves in the same platoon as Kraman, added the unit goes through vigorous training exercises throughout the year, and the training helps them build their skills and help train other Soldiers.
“Combat readiness is crucial for upcoming deployments and future training exercises,” Billiot said. “We take everything we learn here and use it at our home units to better ourselves.”
