U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Charles Chiarotti, deputy commandant of installations and logistics for the Marine Corps, and James Balocki, deputy assistant secretary of the Navy (installations and facilities) visited Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, visited the installation to examine and get updates on the progress of major and minor construction projects occurring on MCAS Cherry Point, to include all repair projects that are underway and other future plans for the installation., Sept. 30, 2020.
Chiarotti and Balocki were shown around MCAS Cherry Point and briefed on all current and future construction projects and plans by Col. Mikel Huber, commanding officer of MCAS Cherry Point, Sgt. Maj. James Robertson, sergeant major of MCAS Cherry Point, and various other individuals leading the projects. Chiarotti and Balocki viewed the flight line construction for the F-35 maintenance hangars form the air traffic control tower, on-going demolition of condemned housing from Hurricane Florence, assessed the damage on the seawall in the Grant’s Landing housing area, and toured the Devil Dog gym.
