KABUL, Afghanistan - Two International Security Assistance Force service members were killed today, Aug. 31, in separate incidents involving improvised explosive device detonations in southern Afghanistan.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of these two valiant service members who lost their lives fighting for the protection of the Afghans," said Brigadier-General Eric Tremblay, ISAF spokesperson.
"The callous tactics employed by the enemies of Afghanistan will not deter us from focussing our efforts on securing the population so that alternatives to insurgent violence and intimidation can be offered to the citizens of this great nation."
Air Force Captain Jonathan Stock, a U.S. spokesperson, confirmed that the deceased are U.S. service members.
