KABUL, Afghanistan - An International Security Assistance Force service member died today, Sept. 1, as a result of wounds suffered in an improvised explosive device attack that occurred on Aug. 31 in southern Afghanistan.
"We have an extremely high regard for the immense dedication and resolve of our soldiers as they continue to perform admirably to meet the many challenges associated with this mission," said Brigadier-General Eric Tremblay, ISAF spokesperson. "To the family and friends of this courageous service member I offer my profound sympathies and hope that they can find comfort in knowing that their loved one made a difference for Afghans."
Air Force Captain Jonathan Stock, a U.S. spokesperson, confirmed that the deceased is a U.S. service member.
