COMBINED ARMS TRAINING CENTER CAMP FUJI, Japan – U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Nathaniel West, a native of Savannah, Georgia, and the armory chief at Combined Arms Training Center (CATC) Camp Fuji, shares his experience interacting and hosting a Marine Corps weapons systems demonstration for Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) future sergeants major.
“We love to let the JGSDF get a feel of what it’s like to be a Marine and how our weapons systems work,” said West, a graduate of Bethesda Academy in Savannah, Georgia. “We had a lot of fun, and it was a memorable experience that I hope they don’t forget.”
CATC Camp Fuji hosted a tour for numerous JGSDF future key leaders to include an explosive ordnance disposal demonstration, indoor simulated marksmanship trainer demonstration, fitness center tour and Marine Corps weapons systems demonstration.
“My primary responsibility as the armory chief on CATC Fuji is ensuring the proper storage and maintenance of our weapons,” said West. “Being in Japan has been a great experience for me and I have a lot of new responsibilities as the armory chief.”
