KABUL, Afghanistan — An Afghan and international security force searched a compound in Paktya province, Sept. 10, acting on intelligence that a militant belonging to the Haqqani Network was present.

The compound is near the village of Gerda Serai in the Wuza Zadran District. No shots were fired and no one was injured. The joint force detained the militant.

The Haqqani Network actively exploits Paktya to transport weapons, ammunition and personnel into adjacent provinces. Afghan and international security forces continually partner their skills and resources to disrupt Haqqani financial, supply and attack operations in order to ensure the safe distribution of government and civil services throughout southeast Afghanistan.
