KABUL, Afghanistan — Two International Security Assistance Force service members were killed Sept. 12 when their patrol struck an improvised explosive device in eastern Afghanistan.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of these committed ISAF service members," said Brig. Gen. Eric Tremblay, ISAF spokesperson. "Their significant contribution to bring improvements in the life of the people of Afghanistan will not be forgotten."
Air Force Capt. Elizabeth Mathias, a U.S. spokesperson, confirmed that the deceased are U.S. service members.
ISAF is a key component of the international community's engagement in Afghanistan, assisting the Afghan authorities in providing security and stability and creating the conditions for reconstruction and development.
