Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) at Naval Station (NAVSTA) Rota is preparing for the opening of its new entertainment complex El Patio which will combine food and drink service as well as state-of-the-art theaters, March 12, 2021.
“This facility will enhance quality of life by offering two new food options and a new theater all in one convenient location and in a community-style atmosphere,” said Sara Fine, Rota MWR food & beverage director.
According to Fine, the community has asked for more base food options so she’s excited for the additions of Bombers Fresh Mex food concept and Tower Pub’s BBQ menu.
“Bombers Fresh Mex is a quick service restaurant offering specialty and build-your-own burritos, burrito bowls, tacos, salads and more,” explained Fine. “It also includes a limited menu Blendz Smoothies.”
The adults-only Tower Pub – a name suggested by a Rota community member – will offer a selection of handcrafted cocktails and adult beverages alongside a signature a la carte menu featuring appetizers, house-made BBQ plates, and more.
The El Patio complex also includes Flix indoor theater with two 71-seat state-of-the-art movie theaters. The two theaters will provide additional movie variety and show times for the community. There is also an outdoor space to host entertainment in the future.
The facility has been in the works for several years and the team at Rota MWR is excited to get it open to the community. Fine described being able to design and open a community facility was exciting and that its functional design will mean it will be used for years to come.
Whether you want a quick burrito while running errands, to enjoy drinks and BBQ with friends, or to catch the newest movie, El Patio will provide the Rota community with a one-stop shop for food, beverage, and entertainment.
“We know the community has been eagerly waiting for this new facility and we hope they are excited about it as we are,” said Fine. “Come out and see us during the opening weekend and let us know what you think.”
