    Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni

Combat Logistics Company (CLC) 36 provides sustained combat logistics through intermediate maintenance and intermediate supply and services to III Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) units aboard Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Iwakuni, Japan. Marines with CLC-36 are trained to operate as a third echelon shop with the ability to provide maintenance to the entire air station.
“We are based out of Okinawa, but my shop is the only third echelon shop on this base. A third echelon shop has the capability of doing replacements while a second echelon shop is limited to repairs” said Cpl. Lindsey Bartolini, a motor transport mechanic with CLC-36, “meaning we are there to support each and every unit within MCAS Iwakuni.” They are able to provide a level of maintenance that no other unit on the base is able to, making them a key component in keeping MCAS Iwakuni, and III MEF, combat ready.
One capability unique to CLC-36 is their ability to deploy specialized teams with personnel and equipment tailored for each and every situation that may occur within a unit in need of support.
“We are the main supplier of gear on this base as well as the only shop that has the qualifications to fix vehicles for units like Marine Wing Support Squadron 171,” said Lance Cpl. Raynel Cadle, a warehouse and property clerk with CLC-36.
CLC-36 is also where the air station's Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Disposition Services, formerly known as the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office or DRMO, resides. DLA Disposition Services is where units aboard the air station take items and equipment that they no longer use to be recycled or repurposed.
“CLC-36's field-level motor transport and engineer ground equipment maintenance and intermediate supply support capabilities further extend 3d Marine Logistics Group's reach in supporting III MEF units aboard MCAS Iwakuni and the Indo-Pacific region at large,” said Capt. Alusine Kamara, Company Commander of CLC-36, “The supply section maintains direct conduit to a well-resourced 3d Supply Battalion that keeps its shelves stocked with well over 500 commonly used items that helps to reduce lead times. On the other hand, the maintenance section, in garrison, can conduct complex tasks like engine swaps or attach mobile support teams to units operating locally or as far as Combined Arms Training Center Camp Fuji.”
