CHICKAMAUGA, GA -- The study of history should be, as Clausewitz suggested, "meant to educate the mind of the future commander, or, more accurately, to guide him in his self-education, not to accompany him to the battlefield; just as a wise teacher guides and stimulates a young man's intellectual development, but is careful not to lead him by the hand for the rest of his life."
With this in mind, students of the Joint Operations Course embarked on a visit to the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park on Apr 8 - 9, 2021.
During their two-day visit, officers will compliment what they see first-hand with their course studies on the intricacy of an armed conflict. This will assist them in getting a better understanding of war, the spectrum of conflict and the complexity of the operational environment (history, culture, ethics, and geography).
