Fort Knox, Ky. – Across the Army, there are numerous opportunities for Soldiers to test their mettle: Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape or SERE training, Airborne School, or Army Special Forces Qualification Course to name a few. These photos of the Fort Knox Combined Best Warrior Competition show the competitive spirit of 35-plus Soldiers all vying for best warrior on the gold standard Army installation. Mar. 30 marked the first day of a competition that consisted of four days and a series of events designed to test Soldiers physically and mentally such as a confidence course, M4 carbine qualification, M17 familiarization, a stress shoot and warrior task and battle drills.
Soldiers from each of the major commands competed at the 2021 Best Warrior competition at Fort Knox, Kentucky. The competition tested the competency of the competitors using a multitude of physical and mental challenges. The winner of the competition will have the opportunity to compete in the U.S. Army 2021 Best Warrior competition.
“The level of competition here is the most challenging that I have ever seen, everyone competing has an investment as far as throughput into the competition and when people are invested it shows up in the contest and it forces you to push yourself a little harder, said Sgt. 1st Class Ronald Roden, an Observer, Coach, and Trainer assigned to 188th Infantry Brigade. “You can never let up for a second, because if you do then you’re going to fall in the standings and someone’s going to take your spot.”
