Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Washington

Lt. Heidi D. Lawrenz, NAVFAC Washington facilities management division director for Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, as well as deputy engineering flight chief at 11 Civil Engineering Squadron, has completed her impressive tour of duty in the National Capital Region.

Over the course of the last two years, Lawrenz flawlessly managed a portfolio of 1,300 assets valued at $2.2 billion, ensuring strategic partners’ facilities met mission requirements. She supported execution of a $17.5 million CNIC budget and $43 million is customer-funded projects in fiscal year 2020. She drove to execution a $2.1 million high-temperature hot water decentralization project, a $22 million joint air defense operation center military construction project, an $18 million HMX/Marine One fuel tank replacement, and was critical in the development and approval of the LEARN charter school on base among many other accomplishments.

In her free time, Lawrenz earned her master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin and passed the Principles and Practice of Engineering exam to become a certified professional engineer.

“Thanks to everyone for their support, both at NAVFAC Washington and at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling,” Lawrenz said.

Lawrenz’s efforts had a direct effect on 68 mission partners, including White House Communications Agency and Defense Intelligence Agency. She was named the 11 Civil Engineering Squadron Company Grade Officer of the Year for 2020 and earned a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Gold Star in lieu of third award). Her perseverance and devotion to duty reflected credit upon her and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Navy.

Lt. Lawrenz came aboard NAVFAC Washington in August 2019 and in April 2021 departed to serve Naval Construction Group ONE in Port Hueneme, Calif.
