Members of the 111th MMB and 582nd MLC conducted Medical Maintenance Support Training for the Iraqi security forces personnel at the Iraqi Medical Clinic #1, June 10 -14 and July 5 - 9, 2009. Eighteen ISF Soldiers at-tended the courses of instruction. The Instructors included Staff Sgt. Keith Hall, Sgt. Scott Moir, and Chief D. Kip Sheldon. Gilbert Israel, linguist with Global Language Solutions LLC, assisted in the training as interpreter.

According to Chief Sheldon, this collection of Soldiers and their Interpreter formed what should be considered a Medical Maintenance Dream Team. "The 582nd's Medical Maintenance Mobile Training Team has done a superb job in not only establishing the Program of Instruction's for each phase and translating the presentations for the linguist to review, but they also excelled in executing this phased training mission. They performed the medical maintenance instruction with the utmost professionalism" said Chief Sheldon.

One objective of the training was to promote Maintenance Management with an emphasis on Radiology and Laboratory equipment. Additionally, the training stressed the dissemination of internationally recognized Medical Maintenance Management 'best practices' and familiarizing the Iraqi security forces with the modalities of Medical Maintenance found within the Health Services Support environment."

Although ISF Medical Maintenance development was the primary goal, relationship building with the Iraqis was a significant benefit of the event. "We have established a good working relationship with the Iraqi medical maintenance personnel and the training has been well received.

The training, which is being conducted in several phases at various locations, not only served to foster a more positive relationship within ISF Medical Maintenance community, but it will enable the Iraqi security forces BMET's to make a positive difference in the operational readiness of their program." said Chief Sheldon.
