Moratorium lifted for shoreline management use permits at Lake Texoma

    DENISON, TEXAS, UNITED STATES

    04.29.2021

    Story by Stacey Reese

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District

    – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District will lift the temporary moratorium on shoreline management use permits on Lake Texoma, effective May 1. The moratorium was originally implemented to allow for the update of the shoreline management plan (SMP). The new SMP has been finalized and the Corps is ready to start accepting applications.

A Shoreline management plan addresses the rules and guidelines governing private shoreline uses, which includes private boat docks, vegetation modification, and similar uses of government property. The SMP establishes shoreline allocations, which specify where certain private uses are allowable.

The Lake Texoma project office will begin accepting new SMP applications beginning May 1. Applications for new private floating facilities will be accepted on a first come/first served basis. To submit an application for Shoreline Use Permit, SWT Form 1133 (see Appendix A), to the Lake Manager along with two sets of structural plans on 8.5 x 11 inch paper, proof of legal access, a detailed site map depicting the proposed location of the private floating facility and the planned construction location area. Please include notarized copies of boat registrations.

The new shoreline management program is on the Tulsa District website at: https://www.swt.usace.army.mil/Missions/Recreation/Shoreline-Management-Plans/

For additional information, please contact Lake Texoma Project office 903-465-4990.
