Airmen of the 633rd Logistics Readiness Squadron celebrated a major award received by their unit on April 16, 2021, at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.
The squadron won the Air Force’s Daedalian Maj. Gen. Warren R. Carter Logistics Effectiveness Award for excellent performance during a tumultuous period in American military history.
Brig. Gen. Linda S. Hurry, Director of Logistics and Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Engineering and Force Protection at Headquarters U.S. Air Force, presented the award to the squadron in a simple ceremony alongside other award-winning logistics personnel from JBLE.
“All of you guys are outstanding,” Hurry said. “Our Air Force mission does not happen without logisticians. If it wasn’t for you guys … we would have nothing but a whole lot of expensive static displays.”
The 633rd LRS provides worldwide expeditionary combat logistics to one of Air Combat Command's largest fighter wings. The squadron also leads deployment readiness for approximately 7,000 Airmen at JBLE, and is responsible for some U.S. Army mobility missions embarking from JBLE.
Last year, the squadron executed a rapid movement of forces—deploying more than 300 personnel with less than 14 hours’ notice. The operation provided mobility readiness and helped deter foreign military threats.
Lt. Col. Brian Campbell, 633rd LRS commander, thanked and congratulated his Airmen for making the squadron one of the best-performing in the Air Force.
“Your attitude, hard work, and dedication over the last year was recognized by our leaders,” said Campbell, who also won an award as Outstanding Air Force Logistics Readiness Field Grade Officer. “I appreciate how we work together and bring logistics to the fight in support of JBLE mission partners and customers around the world. For 2021, logistics readiness will be more important than ever. We have constant requirements and new mission sets on the horizon, and there is no better team to meet those challenges than the 633rd LRS.”
Although the ceremony was a small event, Hurry reminded everyone that the squadron’s achievement was no trifle. The general also encouraged the Airmen that the best was yet to come for the 633rd LRS.
“You guys just won the biggest award there is in the logistics side of the house,” Hurry said. “What it shows is there is an unbelievable amount of teamwork, camaraderie, heart and passion for the great things you guys do. You are literally the best logistics readiness squadron in the Air Force. Congratulations, keep up the great work and continue to take care of each other.”
