U.S. 5th Fleet provided the following readout:
Vice Adm. Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/5th Fleet/Combined Maritime Forces Commander, spoke with Vice Adm. Ahmed Khaled Said, commander of the Egyptian Navy on May 10 to reaffirm the strong naval relationship between the United States and Egypt.
The leaders discussed the importance of integration and interoperability between the navies of Egypt and the United States to ensure maritime security and stability in the Red Sea and Eastern Mediterranean Sea.
Cooper also thanked Said for Egypt’s hospitality to U.S. Navy and Coast Guard ships visiting Safaga Naval Base this year.
