Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center Puget Sound (FLCPS) meritoriously promoted three Sailors under the Navy’s Meritorious Advancement Program (MAP).
Logistics Specialist 2nd Class Justice Espinoza, Logistics Specialist 2nd Class Javaria Turner, and Logistics Specialist 3rd Class Karla Paiz were selected for advancement, a command-level acknowledgement of their superior job performance and contribution to the command’s mission.
Capt. Shawn Triggs, NAVSUP FLCPS Commanding Officer, traveled to each Sailor’s workplace to personally pin on their new rank.
Logistics Specialist 2nd Class Justice Espinoza, from Gilbert, Ariz., is currently assigned to the NAVSUP FLCPS Aviation Supply Department at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Wash., where she serves as the Hazardous Material Minimization (HAZMIN) Center Leading Petty Officer and the Assistant Command Fitness Leader. Espinoza arrived at the command in June 2019 and was promoted at NAS Whidbey Island April 8.
Logistics Specialist 2nd Class Javaria Turner is the Command Executive Assistant to the Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, Executive Director, and Command Master Chief at NAVSUP FLCPS headquarters in Bremerton, Wash. The Columbus, Ga. native is also a member of the command’s administrative team, tasked with handling service record entries, pay documents, and legal matters for 13 officers and 57 enlisted personnel. Turner arrived at NAVSUP FLCPS in November, 2019, and was promoted in a March 26 ceremony in Bremerton.
Logistics Specialist 3rd Class Karla Paiz, from Modesto, Calif., is a work leader at the NAVSUP FLCPS Advanced Traceability and Control Supports (ATAC) facility in Bremerton, Wash. She leads a team that receives, processes, and ships Depot Level Repairables (DLR) for mission partners such as Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, homeported ships, and decommissioning submarines. She has been at NAVSUP FLCPS since October 2019, and was advanced on April 16 in Bremerton.
“These three Sailors exemplify our Navy Core Values of Honor, courage and commitment. They are committed to professional development, team success, and fostering leadership both up and down the chain of command,” said NAVSUP FLCPS Command Master Chief Steve Bradsher. “They are the future of our Navy, and they will carry on the legacy of warfighter support for years to come,” he said.
The Navy MAP program authorizes commanding officers to meritoriously advance eligible E-5 and below Sailors to the next paygrade. MAP advancements account for 20 percent of all enlisted advancements Navy wide each calendar year.
