The 501st Combat Support Wing unveiled a newly refurbished base gym during a ribbon cutting ceremony at RAF Molesworth, England, May 11, 2021.
Leadership from the 501st CSW celebrated the reopening of the base gym after months of refurbishing and renovations.
“The impact on our newly renovated Fitness Center Annex will be a huge one and we hope it resonates well with the RAF Molesworth community,” said Capt. Lauren Lampkin, 423rd Force Support Squadron sustainment services flight commander. “The 423rd FSS has worked diligently and tirelessly to ensure that our mission partners could have a fully functional facility with state of the art equipment closest to them without the commute elsewhere.”
Molesworth is home to both civilian and military personnel from all branches of the military; the new gym provides them a facility on base to maintain their fitness without having to travel to another installation.
“If we can save time and resources by ensuring that our RAF Molesworth community has a safe and clean facility then we absolutely were excited to do so,” said Lampkin. “We see it as a priority to provide a necessary capability for our Airmen, Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, Civilian teammates, and their families to maintain their physical fitness in their backyard without the hassle of making due with old equipment or having to commute elsewhere.”
Maintaining physical fitness standards is key for all military personnel and the continued renovation of the gym at Molesworth demonstrates the 501st’s commitment to providing top notch facilities for its personnel.
“The impact the fitness center annex brings is significant in expanding our operation in covering the physical fitness needs at a great capacity,” said Master Sgt. Clarissa Rosinski, 423rd FSS sustainment services flight superintendent. “It’s important to not only expand our operation to meet the RAFM community but to provide new and fully functional equipment to not only increase physical readiness but to ease strains and unnecessary commutes for folks who live closer to Molesworth than Alconbury.”
The 501st isn’t done at Molesworth; starting in 2022 the gym will undergo a major multi-million dollar renovation to continue improvements and construct new components to help personnel and their family members.
“It feels amazing and really nice to be supported in such a huge way from the 501st CSW,” said Lampkin. “Seeing major renovations like this and many others happening across the wing humbles me because it shows the importance of the larger role each of us have a hand in and why the 501st is so vital to this AOR.”
