Military Police Officer Karl V. Bobbio was recognized as the recipient of the Security/ Emergency Services Civilian Lifesaving Award on Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma, May 12, 2021.
The Civilian Lifesaving Award is one of the Marine Corps’ top life-saving awards made to recognize heroic actions.
On June 7, 2020, Bobbio and his partner received a call for a choking infant in Base Housing. Once the officers arrived, Bobbio successfully rendered first aid and CPR that allowed the infant to breathe unobstructed.
“It comes down to muscle memory,” said Bobbio. “Repetition of what you train is what you know.”
Colonel Chuck Dudik, the commanding officer of MCAS Yuma, took time to acknowledge Bobbio and congratulate him for receiving a well-deserved award.
“We are very proud of Officer Bobbio, and are excited he is being formally recognized for his heroic efforts to save a child’s life,” said Dudik. “Officer Bobbio is a true professional, proven leader, and effective mentor for the Marines with whom he serves.”
Bobbio’s dedication stems from his 11 years of service as a Marine. He is motivated by the Marines he works with and strives to be an overall good person.
